Things are pickin up...
It took a while but things are picking up a bit in the PC repair world. It's allot harder than I thought it would be to compete in this business. One can not rely on repairs alone as it would seem, so what I have started is a reuse/recycle service as well.
By doing this people have started to take notice that I am serious about what I do and am now getting 4-5 contacts per week, out of those at least one does a follow up and utilizes my offer. That's not bad all things considered.
I am willing to take your old computer parts off your hands, and in some cases I will even buy your old computers. From here I salvage what is still usable or resalable and the rest will go to an actual parts recycler! Its win win for all.
If you read this, don't hesitate to contact me via email with what you have, we may be able to work out a deal.

Free Website Hosting
It's hard to find good free web hosting, and it's even harder to find one with the right options for the novice site builder to the most experienced. I'm not much beyond novice myself so it's extra important to me that I find a free web host that has a site builder. I'd like to direct your attention to 000a.biz.. a free web host that has more storage and more bandwidth than I have ever seen for free users. The site builder is simple, choose a template, install it and start editing! *warning* The layout editing should be left for more advanced users.
The Vista Panel is for more advanced settings and care of your new website, most of the features you won't need as an end user, so, i'd recommend not messing with them or you can seriously mess your site up. Trust me I found out the hard way. This is where you will find the site builder and tonnes of great tutorials for those who are brave enough to edit settings.
Aside from the above, they even allow you to use your free site for business, create a web store.. just about anything you want. That was the second thing that attracted me to their service. You may find alot of free web hosts online, but, they only offer a few hundred megabytes of space and an average of 5 gigs of transfer, not for business use unless it's non-profit etc etc.
Using 000a.biz I had my site up and running in a matter of hours. The templates have a nice clean professional look and the builder has many useful tools for editing, inserting images and links to pre-laid html templates and tables, as well as one click inserts for picture galleries, social network sharing, news, polls and more.

Linux..
I'd like to talk a little about Linux, Ubuntu in particular and give you a brief description of its power and benefits.
The first thing I should point out is that Ubuntu Linux is not Windows, you can not take windows programs or games and install them natively in ubuntu linux. There is a way to do it but i'm not getting into that here, thats for a future tech article.
Another thing, I am not a windows hater, or a micrsoft hater. One of my home pc's is running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and I love it. Its fast, easy and i'll be honest its the most secure windows version to date. Now back to Linux:
One of the key features is of course it's Free to you the end user, this is done by means of Corporate sponsorship and the GPL. It comes with thousands of free applications, some pre-installed, some available right at your fingertips using the built-in Package Manager. A description of the app will be supplied in your search query, all ya gotta do is choose, install and run! All dependencies will automatically be downloaded and installed with it. There is also a plethora of community driven sites hosting numerous usefull and powerfull apps. Most of which are downloaded as a package file and there is even a program to handle those pre-installed. Here is a quote form the Ubuntu Home page:
Another super advantage to having Ubuntu Linux is its security!! It is not vulnerable to Windows virus's, not to be mistaken, there is known linux virus's out there but they are miniscule compared to the number of windows virus's, personally in the 4 years i've used Ubuntu I have had ZERO virus's!!
It comes with a preconfigured firewall built right in, very little user interaction should be needed to set up, if any interaction at all. Anti-virus applications are available as well. It should even work with your existing windows home network!
Security Updates to patch found vulnerablities are checked, downloaded and installed DAILY if you so choose, unlike the microsoft patch tuesday which come around once a month, meaning you could be left vulnerable to hacker activity for an entire month!!
It's fast, even on older pc's. Its a great way to make new use of that older pc sitting in your closet, or, breathe new life into your existing pc.
It has desktop effects much like windows areo, but better!! The effects are way too numerous to list here, all pre-installed, all configurable to your exact taste through its own interface.

Office suite... no problem, you can choose from OpenOffice or Libre office, both free opensource full featured office suites, and compatible with all microsoft office documents.
All your social networking can be done right from the desktop, email and chat.. yeah its there too. Photo imaging and manipulation.. its there. Games... yup there is games to choose from.
Hardware drivers, easy enough to do, there is a built in hardware drivers manager and updater.
Linux is not the same uber-geeky tech head operating system it use to be... underneath its skin it is, but, it has become so user friendly over the years in no time at all you won't even notice you're not using windows anymore.

- A fresh install
- Installed on a seperate partition allowing you to keep windows ... aka Dual Boot system giving you a choice at system stratup of Ubuntu or Windows * requires some changes to your hardware configuration
- Install it inside of windows, you will be given a choice at system stratup much like dual boot, but it requires no changes to your hardware configurationa at all. Leaving you the choice of removing Ubuntu on your own through the windows add/remove programs.

Many of you may or may not know about BareBone Systems. These systems are bought online usually without a monitor, keyboard or mouse and sometimes certain other pieces. These systems are a great way to save money if all you need is the tower assembly. Sometimes, depending on the site, these systems can be reconfigured to suit your needs or you may get discounts on other purchases via their site for buying one.
For example A Barebone system may come with:

500W Power Supply
500Gig Hard Drive
Intel or AMD based motherboard
DDR2 or DDR3 ram - depending on the make of the mother board
A DualCore, QuadCore or even a 6Core CPU(Processor) - depending on make of the motherboard
CPU Fan and Heatsink is usually included but not always.
This collection of parts, for the sake of arguement, has a price tag of $299.99. If bought seperately it may cost you $375.. nice savings overall. BUT, most people either don't realize or don't purchase these because they don't come pre-assembled.

If you have your own copy of WindowsXP, Vista or Win7 I will install that too and update all your system drivers and security patches. OR maybe you're feeling brave and would like to try Ubuntu Linux or OpenSuse Linux ... that I can provide for you and install, make sure all hardware is functioning properly, security patches are done.
